important role in their lives. Gabe's and Anna's adoption was
finalized, and Harm traded in his DC
apartment for a home in Falls Church.

A couple of weeks later....
Harm's house
"Harm, I promised Alicia." Mac sounded exasperated. "You were able to adopt Gabe and Anna. Why won't family services approve my request to adopt Will? His grandparents don't even want to see him."
"Mac, I was already named legal custodian when I applied for adoption." Harm responded softly.
Will had been allowed to stay with Mac until after his mother's funeral, and then he was picked up by the child welfare services.
"They said that they were going to try to place Will in a home with two parents. He came from a single parent home to begin with. He's just going to get bounced around from foster home to foster home." Mac became angrier the more she thought about the situation.
Gabe walking from the kitchen munching on a carrot had overheard the conversation. "Why don't you marry Mac, Dad, and then you can adopt Will? He can be my brother." Gabe said matter-of-factly, as he continued walking towards his bedroom.
Mac turned around expecting Harm to make a joke about Gabe's comment when she noticed Harm was looking at her thoughtfully. "Harm?"
"Mac, it would work." He nodded.
"You'd marry me so I could adopt Will?" She replied in disbelief.
"Yes, and for other reasons." Harm looked away.
"Other reasons?" Mac caught off guard began to smile.
"This isn't the way it was supposed to be." Harm looked a little flustered.
"How was it supposed to be?" Mac said softly, looking into his eyes and seeing what she had hoped for.
"It was supposed to be under a starlit night sky. I would have given you a rose and told you how beautiful you are. " He walked closer, looking into her large beautiful brown eyes like there was never another.
"And then what would have happened?" Mac held his gaze.
"Then I would have taken your hands in mine, telling you how much I love you Sarah and kissed you." Harm speaking almost in a whisper and taking her hands in his, closed the distance with a gentle warm kiss as they both closed their eyes.
Slowly they broke the kiss. "Then what happened?" Mac's face was inches from Harm's.
"Then I would ask you if you would honor me by becoming my wife and partner in life." He pulled her close, his arms encircling her and holding her as he lay her face on his shoulder.
"And then I would say I love you Harm, and I would love to be your wife and partner." Tears begin to fall down her face, as she placed her hands on either side of his and looked into his blue green eyes before meeting his lips in a kiss that began gently and progressed to a hungry passionate embrace.
"Dad! Anna's trying to give Elmo a bath in the toilet!"
