Valentine's Day

"Okay this is our last chance. If we are going to get them together tonight it's now or never." Sturgis had all interested parties huddled around in the small kitchen of JAG Headquarters.

"Did you order the flowers Petty Officer?" Sturgis asked.

"They should be delivered anytime, Sir." Tiner responded in an efficient tone.

"I've made reservations for six at La Tours for 2000." Bud Roberts added.

"I've lined up a baby sitter." Harriet added.

"Bobbie and I will meet you a few minutes before for cocktails." Sturgis nodded approvingly. "That way they will have a little time alone."

"Okay folks lets get going." Sturgis ordered.

The two officers who were the target of the secret mission strolled into the bullpen from court as if on cue.

"I whipped your six Commander." Mac teased.

"You were just lucky." Harm retorted. "Besides how hard is it to win a case with a half-a-dozen witnesses reporting that Chief Kovac struck the Lieutenant at the bar."

"But you failed to identity just cause for his actions." Mac came back while facing her opponent.

"I would have had to give the judge and jury hallucinogenic drugs to make them believe my client's excuses. Mac give me a break!" Harm retorted defensively.

"Admit it you're just a bad looser!" Mac replied.

"You are not showing good sportsmanship, Marine." Harm folded his arms in front of himself and raised his eyebrows.

"I'm not a man." She smiled and whirled around towards her office just as a deliveryman walked to her office door carrying a large bouquet of red tulips.

As planned Harriet Sims ran over, "Oh Colonel these are soooo beautiful. Who sent them." She said loud enough for everyone in the bullpen to hear.

Mac smiled in surprise and took the card. "To a beautiful lady, from a secret admirer." She read the card and admired the red blooms. "How sweet."

"Who do you think sent them?" Again, Harriet's voice rang out for all to hear hopefully including the resident JAG aviator.

Sturgis walked over to Harm and whispered. "Who's sending Mac flowers? I didn't know she was seeing anyone."

Harm shrugged and walked up to Mac and Harriet. "Who are the flowers from Mac?"

Mac eyed him suspiciously, "My secret admirer."

"Well I know two people who didn't send them. Chief Kovac whose ass you just nailed to the wall and me." Harm added with a smirk and walked towards his office obviously unconcerned about the whole matter.

Bud, Harriet, Sturgis and Tiner shared a look of frustration. Sturgis then signaled everyone to move to plan B.

Sturgis tapped on Harm's door and entered. "Harm, I know you keep telling me there is nothing between you and Mac, but I get the feeling that you aren't being honest with me or yourself. Someone is apparently interested in Mac, and if you don't take action buddy. I'm afraid you will lose your chance."

Harm sat back into his chair and sighed, "Sturgis, things between Mac and myself are fine."

"Look, I'm warning you."

"Sturgis, how are you and Bobbie getting along these days." Harm changed the subject abruptly.

Meanwhile Harriet was in Mac's office helping her arrange the tulips in a vase, "These are so beautiful. To bad, you don't know who sent them. You could invite him to go to LaTours with Commander Turner, Congresswoman Laytham and Bud and I. Bud made reservations for six."

Mac wrinkled her nose and smiled, "Yea, too bad."

"I have an idea! Why don't you see if Harm would like to go with you, as friends." Harriet quickly suggested.

"I really don't feel like being out with a group tonight." Mac frowned. "You understand don't you."

"You haven't seen anyone since Mic. I think it would be good for you to get out." Harriet pleaded sympathetically.

"No, maybe another time." Mac sat at her desk and began to flip through a file. "But thanks for asking." She added sweetly.

Sturgis, Bud, Harriet and Tiner regrouped in the kitchen. "Plan A and B failed." Bud concluded discouragingly as the others nodded in agreement.

"Maybe Tiner could dress up as cupid and shoot Harm and Mac with arrows." The Admiral's voice startled the group as he pushed past the committee and opened the refrigerator door.

Tiner blushed while the others remained speechless.

The Admiral looked at the shocked faces, "I was just kidding." He said flatly and then gave them a quirky smile. "On the other hand I could always order them to go out together."

Again the group did not know how to respond.

"Sir, that could work." Bud began to nod and Harriet joined in nodding in agreement.

"Sir we just feel badly for them. They both were sort of." Harriet stumbled.

"Dumped by their significant others." The Admiral responded tonelessly.

"Yes Sir." Harriet replied hesitantly.

"I don't think that would work." Sturgis wasn't sure how serious his CO was. "You know the saying, 'You Can't Hurry Love. I guess if it's not meant to be." He concluded.

The group filed out of the break room feeling defeated. "I'll see you guys tonight." Sturgis patted Bud on the back.

The Admiral pulled out his lunch from the refrigerator and frowned mumbling to himself. "I was dumped too. Oh hell, I hope they don't start sending me flowers."

Later that evening.

A knock at the door brought Harm to his bare feet. Dressed in Jeans and a long sleeved white shirt that was half way unbuttoned, he had been relaxing to soft music and a glass of wine.

"Colonel, I appreciate your coming by." He smiled upon seeing Mac dressed equally comfortably in jeans and a fitted red sweater.

"This is nice. " She looked around the dimly candle lit apartment as soft lyrics floating throughout the room.

"Best restaurant in DC." He waved his hand towards the candlelit table. "But first." He pulled her into his arms and placed a deep long hungry kiss on her red full lips.

"Hummm, that was just an appetizer." He added with a twinkle in his eyes.

"So was it my imagination or was there some sort of group effort to get us together today." Mac grinned as she traced her fingers down his exposed chest.

"Oh yes." Harm chuckled. "Who do you think sent the flowers?"

"I don't know, maybe they got the money out of the coffee fund." Mac giggled. "By the way I loved the roses. I got them a soon as I got home." She nuzzled her nose into his neck.

"I would never send you tulips. Only roses." He placed small gentle kisses all over her face.

"Harriet wanted me to ask you to go out with them tonight." Mac moaned as he continued his sweet assault.

"What did you tell her?" Harm asked without stopping his kisses and began to trail them down her neck.

"Told her I wasn't in the mood for a group thing." Mac gasped as he kissed as sensitive spot behind her ear.

"Sounds kinky." Harm chuckled and nibbled her ear. "Sturgis warned me that if I didn't take some sort of action that I would lose my chance with you." He began to work his way towards her other ear.

"Ahhh, what did you tell him?" Mac began to reciprocate with the little kissing game.

"Told him that things between us were just fine." Harm added huskily and then pulled her into a heart stopping, mind numbing, toe tingling, takes your breath away kiss to end all kisses.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

The beginning.

"You can't hurry love, no you can't hurry love.
Love don't come easy, it's a game of give and take.
You can't hurry love, no you can't hurry love.."
